Over 500 people converge on Lisbon beauty-spot, the majority “without masks”

PSP police were called during the night to disperse a multitude of young people gathered at the popular Lisbon viewpoint, the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. Agents were alerted after midnight to find well over 500 people “in violation of sanitary regulations”, say reports: the majority unmasked, many drinking openly in the street. Observador online has carried a video. It seems the gathering was ‘something spontaneous’ that resulted from restaurants closing at 10.30 and clients ‘having nowhere else to go’. There were no arrests. Says SIC noticias, people ‘fled’ when the police arrived.
