Event || More than €1,800 was raised during a charity sporting event at the Hilton Vilamoura Hotel last Saturday attended by around 180 people. The beneficiaries are the Centro Social Nossa Senhora de Fátima children’s home in Olhão.
The charity event was part of the Hilton’s international initiative ‘Around the World in a Day’, which aims to get people walking, running, cycling or just moving in place in order to travel the Earth’s circumference twice – over 80,000 kilometres.
The money was raised from enrolment fees as well as the sale of t-shirts and other sporting goods and was then donated to the children’s home, which is in urgent need of improvements to its facilities.
Apart from the running, cycling or walking, participants could also try a TRX session and a Zumba dancing class.
A large number of children also attended the event with their parents, enjoying the hotel’s kids club. Following the sports initiative, a barbecue lunch was held for all participants, served at the hotel’s Paradise Island Gardens.
