Over 13 billion litres of water wasted annually in Algarve

Over 13 billion litres of water are wasted every year in the Algarve’s water supply networks, mostly due to leaks.

The data comes from the Algarve’s regional water efficiency plan, reports national tabloid Correio da Manhã.

Silves and São Brás de Alportel are the worst ‘offenders’, with losses of over 40%.

Local councils will be investing €35 million (through community funding) to revamp the region’s water supply network through the next four years.
