Police are patrolling parts of the Algarve coast after three massive bundles of hashish washed ashore in Albufeira between Thursday and Saturday (November 3-5).
The first batch was found at sea, three nautical miles away from Albufeira, by a private boat on Thursday. The other two were recovered by police on Praia da Galé on Friday and on Praia da Rocha Baixinha on Saturday. In all, the haul weighed over 100kg, and would have been enough for 200,000 individual doses.
Bruno Cordeiro, head of the GNR’s coastal control in Olhão, told Lusa that the bundles seemed to have been in the water “for some time”.
