The latest edition of the Portugal Dakar Challenge passed through Portimão on New Year’s Eve.
The race, designed to evoke the spirit of the mythical now South America-based Dakar Rally proper, saw 34 teams boasting more than 250 participants take to the Parkalgar off-road track for its second stage en route to Spain, Morocco, Mauritania and finally Senegal.
Portugal’s Elisabete Jacinto is currently holding third place overall in her truck behind the buggies of experienced Frenchmen Jean Luis Schlesser and Regis Delahaye.
