Os Gorilas honour players

By CHRIS WRIGHT

More than 80 members of the Olhanense ‘Os Gorilas’ group and expat fans celebrated in style on Culatra island last Sunday.

Travelling on their own private ferry across the clear waters from Olhão, the party was soon in full swing.

A hearty lunch was enjoyed at Restaurante Culatrense Tavinho, where popular Olhanense club captain Rui Duarte and Tavira-born goalkeeper Bruno Verissimo, together with their families, were guests of honour.

Jeff Denmam led the singing with his new composition of We do like to be beside the seaside especially adapted for Olhanense.

Emily Richardson received a commemorative gift in appreciation of her work as travel co-ordinator.

’Os Gorilas’ organiser João Ferreira then presented awards to Rui Duarte and Bruno Verissimo in recognition of their long and dedicated service to SC Olhanense.

Bruno has made 188 appearances whilst Rui Duarte has clocked up 118.
