Work by many artists living in the Algarve will be showcased at the International Art Fair at Expoalgarve in Loulé from Sunday until December 1.
More than 70 artists from 13 countries will be represented and selling their paintings, sculptures, photography and ceramics.
The fair, organised by ARTE ALGARVE, will also feature a special charity event called the Tree of Love where guests will be invited to bring a gift to be placed under a giant Christmas tree decorated by sculptor António da Cunha, Stela Barreto and Meinke Flesseman, three of the artists participating in the fair.
Choirs will sing traditional Christmas carols while children from orphanages in the Algarve will be invited to receive the gifts from under the Christmas tree.
On Sunday, the Aljezur International Choir will sing carols while children from Obra de Nossa Senhora das Candeias “As Luzinhas” in Olhão receive presents.
November 30 will see children from Lar de Crianças Bom Samaritano in Alvor receive their presents while the choir, Coro Canticorum São Brás de Alportel, will be providing the carols.
On the final day of the exhibition, December 1, Coral Adágio from Portimão will be singing the traditional carols while children from Lar de Crianças “Os Pirilampos” in Albufeira receive their gifts.
“It will be a wonderful thing for the orphans to receive a wrapped up present, it will mean so much more to them than a donation of money,” Rolf Osang from ARTE ALGARVE said.
Rolf would like to encourage visitors to the fair to bring along a wrapped gift to be placed under the Tree of Love for the children of orphanages in the Algarve.
On each day of the fair, the choirs will sing at 9pm while the children will receive their gifts.
The International Art Fair will open from 3pm to 10 pm and the entrance fee will cost four euros.
