Two GNR agents racing to deliver a kidney and a liver for transplant surgery in Porto had a lucky escape when a tyre blew on the vehicle they were driving at 220 km/ h on the A1 motorway close to Leiria. Say reports, “only the expertise of the driver save both occupants and left the transported organs intact”. A GNR patrol concluded the transport, where both transplant operations were able to go ahead.
