Open Media reporter and Barlavento newspaper editor Bruno Filipe Pires is among the finalists of the National Innovative Journalism Award (Prémio Nacional de Jornalismo de Inovação).
Bruno Filipe Pires’ article on a new solar-powered catamaran, which was unveiled at last year’s Vilamoura International Boat Show, earned him a nomination for the ‘Regional’ award.
The presentation of the ‘Sun Concept CAT 12.0’ catamaran, created by Olhão-based company Sun Concept, was even attended by the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The other nominee for the ‘Regional’ award is Daniela Franco Sousa, a journalist from Leiria, with voting open to the public until August 24.
Winners will be decided by combining the votes of the jury (50%) with the votes from the public (50%).
Meanwhile, RTP reporter Duarte Baltazar is in the running for the ‘National Audiovisual’ award for his report on the Culatra 2030 – Comunidade Energética Sustentável project.
The National Innovate Journalism Award is organised by the National Innovation Agency (ANI) with the support of the Regulatory Agency for Media and the Journalists’ Union.
