Open market

Lagoa’s municipal market has reopened following its closure in November last year for refurbishment works costing more than 130,000 euros.

The market, which was built in 1845, now has a new roof as well as new refrigerators and marble work tops (see the Algarve Resident edition November 7, 2008).

Lagoa Câmara decided to refurbish the existing building instead of constructing a new municipal market because it serves those who live in the town centre, and is a social place for the local community.
