Following on from the first demonstration ever to be held by the nation’s dental profession, a study has been released highlighting the precariousness that exists in dentistry. Says the document, more than a third of dentists have decided to emigrate within six months of starting to practice in Portugal, with the figure within two years soaring to 56.7%. This is all because Portugal is training up more dentists than it can employ, and because the State health service does not promote dentistry.
