One dead, two injured in EN125 head-on crash

Yet another accident on the EN125 road has claimed the life of a 36-year-old Portuguese man and injured two others near Estômbar, Lagoa.

The head-on crash happened at 4.35am on Sunday (March 5) on a bend with a continuous line separating lanes, says national tabloid Correio da Manhã.

Francisco Nascimento, who was alone driving his Peugeot 107, was declared dead on the spot.

The two other victims, aged 30 and 23, were taken to Portimão Hospital after being extricated from a Volkswagen Polo by firefighters. One of them was “badly injured”.

The road was cut off for over two hours after the crash, which happened not far from another on Wednesday which injured seven people on the Portimão Bridge (click here).

GNR police are investigating.
