Omega Park can comply

A spokesman from Omega Park, the rare breeds conservation zoo, based in Monchique, has confirmed that it will be able to comply with recently introduced guidelines issued by the government. The new law is designed to regulate conservation of species, public education and scientific research – all areas central to Omega Park’s philosophy. The region’s zoos have two years to comply with the new code, but experts from the Regional Agricultural Board claim that several of the Algarve’s zoos will have financial difficulty in adapting their facilities to meet the legislation.
