Portuguese Ombudsman Maria Lúcia Amaral is appealing for authorities to work together as it becomes clear that many businesses are waiting months for ‘extraordinary support’ promised by the State. The problem is that Social Security is ‘sitting on the money’, waiting for approval from the AT tax authority. This, for whatever reason, has been delayed – in many cases since December. Ms Amaral fears bankruptcies and dismissals will come unless authorities buck up and start doing what they are actually there to do.
