The recent run of good results achieved by Lagoa badminton stars Pedro Martins and Telma Santos have resulted in both players realising their dream of Olympic participation. The Che Lagoense Parchal club representatives – 22-year-old Martins was born in the Portimão suburb, Santos originally comes from Peniche- ensured that Portugal will be represented in the sport at the Games for the fifth time following Barcelona ‘1992, Sydney ‘2000, Athens ‘2004 and Beijing ‘2008. “This has been a childhood dream of mine”, Martins said as the news broke. “I am also very happy for Telma who has helped me a lot and deserves to be at the Olympics”.
