According to organisers, the “Lançamento de Caroço de Azeitona” is best known in Spain, where the world record is 22.8 metres.
In the Portuguese village of Vale do Peso, in the borough of Crato, competitors so far have only managed 14.39 metres.
They will have to wait another year now, before they can make further progress.
