Olive oil “could reach €10 a bottle” as yet another harvest comes up short

This year’s harvest of olives is already proving problematic. Lusa has reported on ‘two consecutive years of falling olive oil production worrying producers in agricultural communities where traditional and modern olive harvesting techniques are combined’. The problem, fuelled by drought/ extreme weather, is transversal: Greece/ Spain are just as badly affected. There are those in the sector who predict the shortage will simply drive prices up even further, to the point that a 750ml bottle of olive oil could end up costing €10… even more.
