Olhão’s wildlife centre hosts Open Day event

RIAS, the Olhão-based centre for the recovery and investigation of wild animals, will host an Open Day event on Saturday, February 10, between 9am and 5pm.

The centre is hosting many activities, including walks, bird ringing, tree planting, animal feeding, a picnic, the construction of perches for birds, a necropsy demonstration, several lectures and – the highlight – the return of an animal to the wild.

“Don’t miss out on this day and take a closer look at what we do,” the centre says in a statement.

Only five people work at RIAS, which survives on the help of volunteers and donations from individuals and companies.

Some of the activities must be booked beforehand.
