Olhão hosts São Miguel mountain race

The 25th edition of Olhão’s São Miguel mountain race will take place on Sunday (December 13) at 11am.

Known for being one of the Algarve’s hardest races, the event will feature a 7km route starting in Moncarapacho and ending at the top of the Cerro de São Miguel, a 411-metre heigh mountain.

Organisers warn that the last 3.5km are all uphill, but that the prize is worth it – a stunning view of the Algarve.

Anyone can sign up. Runners are asked only to bring an item of food which will be donated to a local charity.

The event is organised by the Casa do Povo de Olhão.
