Olhão council has announced it has paid back the €4 million loan it requested from the state via the PAEL programme in 2013.
During this time the council was forced to charge the highest municipal taxes, mayor António Pina said.
But “thanks to our efforts and rigour managing accounts, we were able to control and improve the borough’s financial situation.”
