Olhanense unbeaten at home

The poor playing surface was not conducive to good football as Olhanense welcomed lowly Vasco da Gama Vidigueira (Beja) to the José Arcanjo Stadium last Sunday.

Manager Ivo Soares made two changes to the team that lost 1-0 at Oriental (Lisbon) the previous week. Leleco and Gabriel dropped to the bench to be replaced by Hassan and Leandro.

As early as the second minute, Olhanense drove into the visitors’ penalty area only for Hassan to be tripped by Neves with referee André Pereira having no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot.

Stevy Okitokandjo calmly stepped up to slot home his fifth goal in eight games.

With VG Vidigueira always likely to snatch an equaliser, it was a relief for the home fans when substitute Leleco added a second goal with his first touch of the ball after a deft flick from Stevy Okitokandjo.

This weekend, Olhanense face a long trip to the Azores to play Sporting Ideal.
