More and more British football fans are discovering the unique atmosphere of attending an Olhanense football match whilst enjoying the hospitality of this family based club.
Dan Watts, an avid West Bromwich Albion supporter who runs an excellent Albion fans website, was making his second trip to watch Olhanense.
He first visited Olhão in January when he attended Olhanense’s win against V.Setúbal and in his blog he stated: “The atmosphere inside the stadium was superb. Supporters of both sides made a lot of noise, more than you hear from the Smethwick End and Birmingham Road ends at The Hawthorns. The display of flags and banners inside the ground was a great sight and certainly made an impact on me after sitting at often lifeless English stadiums in recent seasons.”
Brian Flackman, a keen Fulham fan from London, made a special trip to the Algarve to take in two games – Olhanense against SC Braga on the Saturday and SC Farense’s 1-0 win over Porto ‘B’ on the Sunday.
Brian said: “It was a great weekend and cost me little more than the admission price at a top Premier League game in England.”
Pam Pardo, who with husband Zé runs the Restaurante Fonte Nova in Pechão, was joined by six family members and friends who had flown out from Manchester.
The Olhanense Expat Supporters Group is only too willing to help fans enjoy the ‘Olhanense Experience’ including the purchase of tickets, tour of the stadium/trophy room and club memorabilia.
