Tomorrow (Saturday) the Algarve’s only Premier Liga team travel to the Alvalade Stadium to play a Sporting team who have signed 14 players this summer under new coach Domingos Paciência.
Latest addition is the former Barcelona winger Jeffrén Suárez, who cost €3.75 million. The Dutch international Rick van Wolfswinkel recently signed a five-year contract on a €5.4 million deal. The 22 year-old centre-forward scored 22 goals in 60 appearances for Utrecht. Other major signings include Diego Capel (Sevilla) €3.5 million and Valeri Bojinov (Parma) €2.6 million.
This is in stark contrast to Olhanense’s €1.5 million playing budget for the whole year!
Last season Olhanense returned from Lisbon with a well-earned point after an entertaining 0-0 draw.
