OLHANENSE READY FOR THE OFF?

New Season || Whether Olhanense are ready for the new season will be put to the test as they travel over 2,000kms to the Azores for their League Cup tie – the first game in the first phase – with Santa Clara. The game will kick-off at 5pm tomorrow evening (Saturday, July 26).
New signings include former FC Porto and Portugal U20 goalkeeper Tiago Maia; defender Duarte Machado (ex-Belenenses) and André Pires (ex-Braga).
Olhanense dominated the first 45 minutes of their recent friendly with Louletano. An early goal was headed home by Vítor Bastos from Regula’s free-kick.
In the second half, manager António Conceição used a number of players who are on trial and being assessed by the technical team.
Louletano secured victory with goals from Pelé and Dani in the sixtieth and seventieth minutes.
There is a strong possibility that Primeira Liga side Marítimo (Madeira) will be loaning Olhanense three players for the coming season. Thirty-year-old Swiss international goalkeeper Leoni, 29-year-old Brazilian midfielder João Luiz and midfield player Semedo, who was on loan at Portimonense last season.
The first game of the new campaign at the José Arcanjo Stadium, located behind McDonald’s on the EN125 in Olhão, is the League Cup game against Tondela on Sunday, August 3. Six days later (Saturday, August 9), Olhanense play their opening league game in the Second Division against Leixões.
Sócio-members have been offered a special deal for the coming season: a numbered and personalised seat in the main stand, admission to 23 home league games and a club shirt – all for just €100.
Further offers are available, but sócio-members should renew their seat by the August 15.
