Olhanense players and officials thank volunteers

SC Olhanense President Isidoro Sousa plus several players and officials visited the collection point for the Community in Crisis Appeal at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão, on Monday morning to thank the volunteers for all their efforts.

East Algarve Walking Football and Associação Causa Vibrante (the charitable fundraising arm of Centre Algarve, Moncarapacho), with the support of SC Olhanense, have been providing fund parcels for vulnerable adults and children.

Isidoro Sousa spoke affectionately of the bond created with the expat community in the area and presented ‘Justiça para o Olhanense’ T-shirts to those present.

Portugal U20 international Leonardo Lelo – rumoured to be on his way to Primeira Liga outfit V. Setúbal – and his colleagues Tiago Jogo and Gonçalo Augusto then chatted with the volunteers whilst enjoying homemade ‘brownies’ supplied by Christine Wright.

Amy Willis from Centre Algarve said that although the Centre was unable to operate because of Covid-19, there was much work to be done, including supporting the local community. In addition, they were making sure that the animals were in good shape including meerkats Kingo and Kobi who had recently had their annual veterinary check-up and nail trim.
