Olhanense in sparkling form

A three-goal victory over Angrense (Azores) ensures that Olhanense keep alive their hopes of a top two finish in Campeonato de Portugal Division D. The good-sized crowd at the José Arcanjo Stadium (Olhão) were rewarded with a goal after just 10 minutes as captain Leleco was played through with only the keeper to beat.

Filipe Soares, in the visitors’ goal, brought down the Olhanense skipper who duly planted the resulting spot-kick past Soares who was lucky not to get his marching orders.

Olhanense doubled their lead with the last action of the first-half when Fábio slotted home from a corner. There was a vibrant atmosphere in the recently refurbished stadium and the fans, starved of any success over recent years, cheered on the players who responded with a third goal midway through the second-half.

A strong run from Reider Rodriguez through the inside-left position resulted in him cutting the ball back across goal for an easy tap in for Caleb.

Olhanense comfortably played out the final minutes to record their third consecutive three goal home win.

On Sunday, the team travel to Lisbon to play Sacavenense. The next home game on Sunday, March 17 against second place Oriental FC is a massive one for Olhanense who are in fifth place and chasing a play-off place.
