League champions FC Porto suffered their first league defeat in nearly two years when they lost at Académica last weekend. Former Olhanense boss Sérgio Conceição masterminded the shock win with three ex-Olhanense players also making a significant contribution.
Centre-forward Ivanildo should have had an early penalty when he was tripped in the box and Liban Abdi went close with a couple of efforts. But it was midfielder Fernando Alexandre – he had a strong game against Olhanense the previous week at the Algarve Stadium – who struck just before half-time with the only goal of the game.
