The world’s oldest person, Maria de Jesus from Tomar, northern Portugal, died on January 2 aged 115.
Maria died in an ambulance while being transported to hospital as a precaution for a swollen hand.
According to her daughter, Maria Madalena, Maria de Jesus only took half a tablet per day for blood pressure.
Maria was born on September 10, 1893, during the reign of Portugal’s King Dom Carlos.
She had six children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
