The true awfulness of the end of Felicity Ace (click here) – the vehicle carrier that caught fire mid-February off the coast of the Azores, destroying 4,000 ‘top-of-the-line’ cars (worth an estimated €400 million) – continues today, in the form of an oil slick, that is now having to be monitored by the Maritime Authority. Patrol ship ‘Setúbal’ is said to be constructing containment barriers in the deep ocean while ‘simulations’ are being performed on the polluting material. A week ago, news reports suggested there was “no oil leakage”, so this update is not good news…
