Off-season holiday price-bonanza following Covid travel changes in UK

Off-season tourism in Portugal can look forward to a welcome boost through autumn following Covid policy changes in UK.

British media is reporting “There are some ridiculously cheap deals for holidays in the next few months, if you are quick, as they are likely to soar due to demand…”

The new impetus has been prompted by the announcement yesterday by Britain’s Transport Minister Grant Shapps that from Monday October 4 fully-vaccinated travellers no longer have to take expensive PCR tests when they return from abroad (these are to be substituted with much cheaper lateral flow tests) – nor do they have to take tests before they leave.

The dispensation immediately reduces travel costs – not to mention the time spent ‘researching’ pandemic travel requirements and navigating all the bureaucracy.

The UK ‘traffic light’ system for travel has also been scrapped – with only a ‘red list’ remaining.

Unvaccinated Brits however will face a lot more restrictions, warns the Sun. They will have to quarantine for 10 days when they return to the UK. as well as pay for three Covid tests.
