Odelouca dam

Prime Minister José Sócrates was expected to visit Odelouca dam in the Algarve today (Friday) when he was due to shut the gates to allow for water conservation.

According to Environment Minister Nuno Correia, works on the dam are on schedule and should be concluded in June 2010. The Odelouca dam project represents an investment of 53 million euros and will be the main water supplier for the western Algarve.
