Over one tonne of octopus was seized by the GNR’s coastal patrol on Thursday, April 4 in Olhão.
During a routine patrol, officers found that the octopus did not meet the legal market size to be captured and had also not been put up for sale at the local ‘lota’ (fish market).
The company that was in possession of the octopus faces two fines which together could reach over €91,000.
