Octogenarian mowed down by train at Estômbar railway crossing

An 82-year-old Portuguese man was killed after being hit by a train as he crossed the Estômbar railway track on his motorbike on Wednesday morning (January 28).

It is believed that the Lagoa resident tried to cross the railway before the train passed, as railway authority Refer guaranteed all warning signs were working.

The accident happened at around 8.30am. Traffic was cut off for over an hour.
