Oceânico is once again hosting the Oceânico Algarve Crown Green Open at the Amendoeira Golf Resort near Silves on September 18 and 19 with a total prize fund of 10,000 Euros.
The club boasts the only crown green outside the UK and all bowlers are welcome to enter the competition and compete for a qualifying place in the Oceânico Bowls Masters Portugal 2010 at a cost of 20 Euros per bowler.
The winner of the Oceânico Algarve Crown Green Open tournament in 2009 was Algarve resident John Greenwood who then qualified for the Oceânico Bowls Masters Portugal 2009. He said: “I think all of you concerned with the event should be commended for doing a great job. From my point of view it was a faultless piece of organisation”.
The prestigious Oceânico Bowls Masters Portugal 2010 tournament will be held from October 9 to 16 and will be televised by Sky SPORTS.
In total, 32 top crown green bowlers will qualify for the event comprising 16 UK county winners and 16 winners of open tournaments including the Oceânico Algarve Crown Green Open. The overall winner takes home 2,000 Euros and all other bowlers are invited to join the event at a cost of 95 Euros, which covers the green fees, welcome reception drink and the final prize giving gala dinner on Friday October 15 at the Amendoeira Clubhouse.
