Ocean welcomes chef from world’s ninth best restaurant

Two-Michelin-starred restaurant Ocean at Vila Vita Parc in Porches will be opening its doors to Mexican chef Jorge Vallejo, who will be cooking alongside chef Hans Neuner for one “unique and exclusive night” on Friday, June 23 at 7pm.

Vallejo is the chef at Quintonil in Mexico City, voted the world’s ninth best restaurant in the World’s 50 Best ranking.

“The two chefs will be combining different styles and philosophies to create a gastronomic journey that goes beyond borders,” says a promotional statement about the event.

“From the explosive flavours of Mexican recipes executed with Portuguese seafood to the mixture of local spices and fresh Mediterranean products, each dish will tell a story that celebrates the diverse cultures and culinary traditions of Mexico, Portugal and Brazil,” it adds.

The event is part of a European tour entitled ‘The Quintonil Quest II’, which will see the Mexican chef bringing his talent to Amsterdam, Valencia, London and Zurich, as well as the Algarve.

Outside of this event, Ocean is currently serving its new tasting menu entitled ‘Memories of Brazil’. which is based on the “unique characteristics and influences of Brazilian gastronomy”.
