A new theme park is due to open in the Algarve in May 2012 at Quinta dos Vales.
The Park of Senses will allow visitors to “experience the five senses in a joyful way”.
To give people a taste of what will be on offer from next year, a day-long festival called Obrigado Portugal will be held on June 11, starting at 10am at Quinta dos Vales, a rural tourism farm and winery in Estombar.
Entertainment performed by people who aren’t of Portuguese nationality, but live in Portugal, will take the form of a street fair with artists, artisans, street performers, musicians and chefs.
Organisers Marion Buz and Lennie Araujo believe “we live in a world full of virtual entertainment. Who amongst us does not love the perfume of the wet soil after a rainfall, the melody of a waterfall, the comforting warmth of a campfire, the taste of freshly baked bread and the view of the rising moon?”
Entry to the Obrigado Portugal event is free.
