OAP rivals attack each other with hoes

It was a typical land dispute between Portuguese neighbours. Two elderly relatives-through-marriage, both brandishing hoes, met after years of disgruntled silence. Shortly afterwards, they began hitting each other with their farming implements.
This latest bloodied spat took place on Sunday morning in Benafim, in the borough of Loulé.
“The two men, aged between 60 and 70, did not agree over the markers that divided their land,” a source from the GNR told Correio da Manhã. “They had not talked for some time. Yesterday they met and one injured the other with a hoe. This latter retaliated, and injured the first.”
Suffering “light injuries”, the two rivals were attended by local firefighters at the scene. It is not known whether the men have settled their differences or whether this particular land dispute is set to continue.
