In spite of the ‘more benign nature’ of Omicron, experts reporting to the government at Infarmed this morning have warned that between 4% – 12% of the population could end up in isolation by the end of January as a result of increased transmissibility. Hospital admissions could climb to as much as 3,700 by the end of the month, with between 184 – 453 people in intensive care,. If predictions reach these ‘worst case scenarios’, there would be impact on primary line care.
