Portugal’s green party (PEV) has presented a project to alter the law for nudist beaches, passed in 1994, following a request from a regional naturists club.
The proposal aims to change the law that prevents there being more than one legal nudist beach per council. A change to the legal distance that a nudist beach must be from urban areas is also in the proposal, from 1,500 metres to 500 metres.
Meanwhile, the region’s naturists club (CAN) is also due to resubmit a new proposal, which was previously refused, for the legalisation of Grande beach in Silves council and Furnas beach in Vila do Bispo as nudist beaches.
