IF YOU live in the Sintra area and are interested in offering a home to an abandoned animal, now, thanks to new arrangements announced by Sintra Câmara, it is much easier than ever before!
Not only can you collect an animal from the municipal pound, but you can also visit the Mercado Brocante or the Feira Ecológica de São Pedro, where abandoned animals will be offered free of charge to those who can provide them with a good home.
The Mercado Brocante is held on the first and third Saturdays of each month at Jardim da Correnteza in Sintra, from 10am until 7pm, while the Feira Ecológica takes place on the first Sunday of every month at the Cine-Teatro da Sociedade Filarmónica Os Aliados in São Pedro, from 10am until 7pm.
The animals are fully vaccinated and have undergone a de-flea treatment. The municipal pound is located at Avenue Almirante Gago Coutinho. Tel 219 238 816 for more information. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 9am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 4.30pm.
