The Coro dos Amigos do Museu in São Brás will be presenting summer concerts this month featuring Portuguese, English, German and French songs that typify each nationality’s musical character.
Celebrating both the multinational nature of life in the Algarve and also cultural differences, the summer concerts will take place on June 25 at the Casa do Povo in Moncarapacho and on June 27 at the Museu do Trajo in São Brás, both starting at 8pm.
Diane Ings from the Coro said: “Each nationality has its own style, its own musical character, particularly when it comes to nostalgia. The English traditionally hark back to a pastoral golden age.
The Portuguese, with their emphasis on ‘saudades’, are a quintessentially nostalgic people. French songs have a more stylish romance and German songs are most evocative of the seasons.”
A donation of €5 to attend the concerts is suggested.
