Nordic Christmas

news: Nordic Christmas

Last year’s Nordic Club Christmas Bazaar raised over 20,000 euros for several charity institutions in Portugal, including the Associação Cristã de Reinseração e Apoio Social (home for the elderly in Almeirim) and A Fundação Filantrópica, Maj-Lis Johansson.

This year, the Bazaar will take place on Saturday, December 4, between 1.30pm and 5pm, at the Centro Escolar Turístico e Hoteleiro do Estoril at Av. Condes de Barcelona, in Estoril (beside the tennis club, close to the Estoril exit on the motorway from Lisbon). The Bazaar has the support of the Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish embassies. All the work with the Bazaar is voluntary and, as always, the profit goes to charity institutions here in Portugal.

Visitors will be able to buy traditional Nordic Christmas products and there will be food stands selling open sandwiches, hot dogs, cakes and waffles and, of course, the Swedish drink, Glogg, made with wine and spices, and served piping hot. Chocolates, sweets, decorations, candleholders, angels, Santas, glass, crystal, porcelain items and much, much more will also be on offer.

At 3.30pm, there will be a typical Swedish Santa Luzia show, with Christmas carols by the students from the Swedish School in Carcavelos.
