Nobel Algarve claim national basketball title

The Nobel International School Algarve Under 13s 3×3 basketball team are national champions, after winning all group games in a competition in Viseu that saw 96 teams, 12 in each age group, and 300 players converging to win titles.

Rafael Garcia, 13, Nikita Bolshov, 12, and Freddie Healy, 12, are the first students to achieve this level of success for the school.

Head of PE Paulo Bitoque said: “The boys have done phenomenally well, and we are very proud of them. It is a very fast half-court game and the players in the team have to complement each other, which is exactly what we saw from these boys – and Kevin Gunnerson and Rory Craig, both 13, who played in earlier games in the tournament. Basketball started at Nobel International School Algarve in 2015 and we have seen the teams go from strength to strength. Exciting times ahead!”
