No sign of man who “walked into sea” at Faro beach

A week has passed and there is still no sign of the young man “with a history of psychiatric problems” seen walking into the sea at Faro’s Barrinha beach at around 5pm last Wednesday (March 29).

The man’s belongings, including a backpack and shoes, were found nearby. Inside the backpack were “drinks, pills and identification papers,” says Lusa.

The man’s identity has not been revealed though he is said to be in his 30s. His mother has confirmed that he went to the beach and that he has a history of “psychiatric problems” and “suicide attempts”.

Searches continue albeit now on a small scale.
