No recount: PM’s son’s 25 vote ‘election victory’ remains unchallenged

A judge has ruled that the slimmest of election wins (by just 25 votes) by Pedro Costa – son of the prime minister António Costa – cannot be challenged. Costa junior won Lisbon’s Campo de Ourique parish council from Teresa Morais Leitão, standing for the Novos Tempos PSD-led coalition, in last Sunday’s municipal elections. Ms Leitão requested a recount, but has been told that there is ‘lack of legal substance’ to support this.
