No more appeals left: disgraced magistrate Orlando Figueira faces jail imminently

Years after being condemned to six and a half years behind bars for his part in the hugely confusing Operation Fizz, disgraced former magistrate Orlando Figueiro is reportedly expected to be called to serve his sentence ‘within days’. As Observador recalls today, Orlando Figueira was ‘corrupted’ by former Angolan vice-president Manuel Vicente (pictured here). At the time of the ‘facts’, Vicente was president of Angolan State oil company Sonangol. Manuel Vicente has never had to face prosecution over his role in Fizz, which for a time was said to be ‘threatening Portuguese/Angolan relations’.
