Manager Lázaro Oliveira’s remodelled 11 played well against Estoril on Sunday. Unfortunately, the visiting league leaders scored from their first attempt at goal after 17 minutes and retained that advantage before finding the back of the net again in injury time.
While Estoril are now seven points clear at the top of the Liga Orangina, Portimonense’s position is looking increasingly precarious. Next Sunday’s away match in Lisbon against Belenenses promises little hope of respite as the Algarveans continue their desperate attempt to escape the relegation mire.
