No hope

MARRIAGE between a man and woman is non-negotiable for the Catholic Church, said a Portuguese cardinal at Fátima last week.

Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, Congregational Prefect for the Vatican’s Saints’ Cause, said that “marriage as a stable and faithful union between a man and a woman and no other form” was one of the church’s “non-negotiable principles”.

In his sermon, given on May 13, Saraiva Martins said that our age was “saturated and desperate” with today’s man who was “disillusioned and deluded” and at times seemed to have “lost all hope”.
