More than 200 elderly in need living in the Algarve are to have a brighter Christmas this year, thanks to the volunteers of Silves-based charity Castelo dos Sonhos, who are organising the 9th annual shoebox drive for the elderly.
Those wishing to participate in the drive need to find an empty shoe box, fill the box with a variety of gifts, wrap it up and label for man or woman, or couple.
Filled shoeboxes should be delivered to Castelo dos Sonhos or the Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra between November 15 and December 1.
Suggested items for the shoebox include shampoo, soap and body lotion, woolly hat, gloves, scarf and socks, sewing kit, a torch, comb or brush, small ornaments, sweets, chocolate or biscuits. Please do not include medicines.
Shoeboxes will be delivered by a Castelo dos Sonhos team in time for Christmas.
