Adrienne Willis retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe to look after a friend’s inn for the weekend, where she hopes to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage or not. Here she hopes to find the tranquillity to sort out her personal life.
The only guest at the inn, Doctor Paul Flanner has also escaped to face his own crisis of conscience by reconciling with his estranged son.
The weather changes, a storm closes in around the inn and the two turn to each other for comfort and start a life-changing romance.
